Have you forgotten your PC’s BIOS password?
Do you want to reset & bypass the BIOS password with success?
In this tutorial you will learn how to remove the BIOS password using 4 methods, in the first we will be using the CMOS battery trick, in the second we will use the motherboard jumper to reset the BIOS password and in the third, we will be using a backdoor master password. In the 4th method, I will share with you some common passwords you can try according to the brand of your motherboard.
Let’s dive in:
1. Remove BIOS Password by Removing CMOS Battery
Most computers, laptop & desktop, come with a coin-sized battery (called CMOS [Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor] battery) that stores all the BIOS settings and password.
- First, unplug the power cord from your PC.
- Press the power button to get rid of any electricity remaining in the condensers of your motherboard.
- Open the computer case and locate the CMOS battery.
If you have a Desktop computer the CMOS battery will be found in the motherboard somewhere near the CPU or the RAM.

If you have a Laptop then just open the back of your PC and find the CMOS battery, you will find it wrapped in a plastic casing with a cable in most cases.

- Remove the CMOS battery. Wait for 15 to 30 minutes and plug it back. This will reset the BIOS password and all settings.
If this didn’t work then try removing the CMOS battery for one hour.
2. Using Motherboard Jumper to Reset BIOS Password
Most motherboards in Desktop computers come with a BIOS reset jumper that can be found near the CMOS battery. The jumper reset come with 2-pins and is usually blue.
If you can’t find it use google to search on your manufacturer’s manual for the location of the BIOS reset jumper.

Once you have found it, and after you have unplugged the power cord and pressed the power button to remove electricity from the system.
Then move the jumper by one pin in case of having 3 pins, in case you have only 2 pins just remove it for 1 minute and the BIOS password will be reset.
3. Bypass BIOS Password With a Master Password
If you enter the wrong password for multiple times you will get a “System Disabled” error message like this:

Enter this website: https://bios-pw.org/
Enter the code in the form and click “Get password“. Use the passwords listed to access your BIOS again, you need to restart your PC.
