Do you want to secure your Word document to prevent others from reading/editing or accessing it?
In this tutorial, you will learn how to protect your Microsoft Word document using 3 simple tips.
Let’s go!
Secure Your Word Documents with 3 Simple Tricks
Mark the Document as Final
Go to “Info“, click on “Protect Document” and choose “Mark as Final“.
This is the lightest security there is when it comes to protecting and preventing users from editing your Word document but they can edit it anyway.

Click “OK” to confirm.

When you open your Word document you will get a message “MARKED AS FINAL“, but you can edit it anyways by clicking in the button.

Encrypt a Word Document with a Password
The best way to prevent others from accessing your Word document is by clicking on “Encrypt with Password” on the Info page.

Type in a secure password, click “OK“.

Confirm the password.

Next time you open this Word document you will be prompted to enter the password.

Restrict Access to Word Documents (Best for Fill Forms)
First, start by adding the “Developer” tab to the Ribbon in Word Options.

Choose “Restrict Editing” in the Info Protect Document section.

Check “Allow only this type of editing in the document” and choose “Filling in forms“.
Click “Yes, Start Enforcing Protection“.

Enter a password, confirm it, and click “OK“.

Now you have a Word document that is only form fillable.

There you have it!
You just learned how to secure/protect your word documents.
