Do you want to move your Steam games from C:
to D:
drive?
Are you looking for the safest and fastest way to transfer large games between hard drives?
When it comes to storage, SSD drives are more expensive than HDD drives.
After months of gaming, your system drive C:
may get saturated, when this happens most gamers tend to move their games from the File Explorer but this is not the right way and it takes longer to work.
Luckily there is a better way to move your Steam games without redownloading them right on Steam owned by Valve.
In this tutorial, you will learn the easy way to transfer your games from a drive to another.
Let’s go!
Move Steam Games to Another Drive on Windows 10
Create a New SteamLibrary Folder
Open your Steam window and click on the “Steam” menu, then click on “Settings“.

Under the “Downloads” page, click on “Steam Library Folders“.

Click on “Add Library Folder“.

Select your hard drive and select your empty folder, preferably name it SteamLibrary
, if you don’t have an empty folder click on “New Folder” to create it.

Right-click on the newly added folder and choose “Make Default Folder“.

Move Steam Game Files to the New Folder
Right-click on the game you want to move and choose “Properties“.

Open the “Local Files” tab and click on “Move Install Folder“.

Open the dropdown list and select your new folder.
Click on the “Move Folder” button to start the process.

Wait for a couple of minutes…

You should receive a message like this after it’s finished:
Success, moved 2926 files to new library folder.

You can verify in the Explorer that the game was transferred/moved successfully.
