Install the All-New Windows Terminal on Windows 10
Open the Start menu and search for “Microsoft Store“”.

Search for the “Windows Terminal“.

Click on “Get“.
Wait for the download and install to finish.

Click on “Launch“.

You can also launch the Windows Terminal from the Start menu.

You can open multiple shells, each one has its keyboard shortcut:
- Windows PowerShell: A cross-platform task automation and configuration management framework, consisting of a command-line shell and scripting language.
- Command Prompt: A command-line interpreter used to fix/troubleshoot bugs, run administrative tasks, etc.
- Ubuntu: Bash Linux to run Linux-based commands such as
ls
andtop
. - Azure Cloud Shell: An interactive, authenticated, browser-accessible shell for managing Azure resources.

Here is an example of use of multiple tabs, one for Windows PowerShell, the other is for Ubuntu.

When you close the window you will need to confirm by clicking on “Close all“.

For easy access right-click on the Windows Terminal on Start menu and choose “Pin to Start“. This way you will be able to access it faster.
