Do you have multiple users on your Windows 10 computer?
Do you want to prevent them from accessing certain drives and partitions?
Sometimes allowing everyone to access your hard drives is a bad idea, especially if you have confidential data that you don’t want anyone accessing it.
Luckily Windows comes with File System Permissions, which allows you to deny access to certain folders, files and drives the easy way.
In this easy tutorial, you will learn how to block specific users (e.g non-admin users) from accessing your drives
Block Users Access Hard Drives on Windows 10
Open your File Explorer using the Windows+E keyboard shortcut, go to “This PC” and right-click on the drive you want to prevent users from accessing, click “Properties“.
Open the “Security” tab and click on the “Edit…” button.
Type the User Name and click “Check Names“, click “OK“.
Select the User and check “Deny” on “Full control“. Click “OK”
Confirm by clicking on “Yes“.
Wait for a couple of minutes…
Try to access the hard drive from the blocked user, you will get this error message.
